In the Meme Time

Here we go again we have another Leftist meme that is wrong.

There are 5 statements and most of them are either incorrect, taken out of context, or an out-right lie. So let’s break it down:

The Founders did indeed write the Constitution and it’s true that the Apostles did not. But what the Apostles did write under the guidance of the Holy Spirit led to what the Founders wrote in the Constitution. Without the work of the Apostles the Constitution would never been written.

The Bill of Rights is part of the Constitution, it is the first 10 amendments. And part of the Worldview of the Founders that was shaped by the Gospels and intertwined with the common knowledge of the time. Our Founders knew that rights came from God and that the role of proper government was to preserve and defend those rights.

Their intent is plainly written. CONGRESS shall pass no laws on the establishment of religion. This prevents the government from creating a “Church of America” that it controls. The Founders fled England and the Church of England, headed by the English Monarch, aka the government, due to religious persecution. They wished to worship the Most High as they pleased but couldn’t do it in England or even most of Europe.

The Church of England is a state-sponsored religion. Enforcement is still practiced in part even today in the UK. Thus the Founders wanted the freedom of religion. Not the freedom FROM religion which the Left tries to enforce. And that is why there is no Church of America.

This wasn’t a mandate to keep religion out of government. It was the opposite. To keep government out religion. The people of Faith are the very reason we have our government and nation today. Government doesn’t control religion. But religion should control government.

The Founders never created a Democracy. They were adamantly against the creation of a Democracy and a democratic state. The Founders were well aware of the dangers associated with a democracy and decided against that form of government when they created this nation. The instead created a Constitutional Republic. The two forms of government are not interchangeable and have nothing to do with one another.

No one, except Leftists, have ever stated that Christianity is a political party. Of course some Leftists have created political parties with the word “Christian” in them but they are far from being Christian or any other part of their name.

But Christianity cannot be separated from politics. All Believers are called to participate and we are a Royal Priesthood. Called to be Kings and Priests forever. It is the duty of every Christian to see that the world becomes more Christlike. After starting with yourself, then your family, then your community and government.

Government is one of the 3 powers created by God. As a Child of God it is a sacred duty to ensure government is ran by Godly men.

Leftist Lexicon Word of the Week

You can tell we’re in the midst of Midterm Madness by all the news stories coming out about the Midterms. This week’s news came out of Virginia, where Democrats were bragging about winning a referendum vote over redistricting where they would take a 10-1 Congressional district lead over the Republicans. That is until the commonwealth’s Supreme Court rejected it on procedural grounds. See, in their hurry to try to emulate Texas, they kinda broke the rules, so the Congressional districts are staying put for now.

Now there are a couple of angles we can take to mock…I mean analyze…no, wait, I do mean mock the Left on this. I’ve already covered states rights in one form or another previously (Short Version: States have rights, too.), so I’m going to look at the other side of the equation, the will of the people.

What the Left thinks it means – a bedrock principle of our government that is unassailable

What it really means – a principle of our government that may or may not always be the best course of action

As much as the Left likes to claim otherwise, America is not a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic and have been since our establishment. And, no, the two aren’t synonymous. One allows people to vote for representatives in government, and the other doesn’t work in large groups like America. Guess which one I’m talking about in the latter description.

For you Leftists out there, I’m talking about democracy. And, yes, this is what democracy looks like, not a bunch of out-of-work theater kids trying to cosplay as revolutionaries while not straying too far from a WiFi signal.

Anyway, the point is we as voters have a lot of power, but it’s not absolute power. It’s like Lord Acton said, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Either that or “Care for a spot of tea?” But I’m thinking the first one fits better.

The thing about the will of the people is it can be wrong by virtue of the fact people are people. So why should it be you and I should get along so awfully? Wait, sorry. I was listening to Depeche Mode just then. What I’m getting at is the will of the people should be considered, but weighed against the possibility listening to them might turn out to be a shitty idea.

To that end, I introduce proof of this in action. As “American Idol” was in its heyday, there was a singer named Sanjaya. He was okay vocally, but not on the level of some of the other contestants. Yet, he made it all the way to 7th place by votes alone. He was popular with some show demographics and that kept him alive in the competition.

A fucking singing competition, I have to emphasize.

Personally, I have nothing against Sanjaya. He seems like a genuinely lovely person. But the fact he got as far as he did in the competition purely because fans voted for him week after week and not because he was a solid performer indicts not just “American Idol,” but the concept of the will of the people.

What happened in Virginia was the Sanjayanation of the commonwealth. They presented an idea that appealed to a lot of people, but was utter bullshit. You know, like the redistricting blue states have done to disenfranchise Republicans? But remember, this all started because of Donald Trump and Texas because fuck you that’s why.

This reveals another flaw in the idea of the will of the people always being right. What if the people were mislead into voting a certain way? I know! Who would expect politicians (many of whom have law degrees) would trick people? I was as shocked as you are when I found out.

Seriously, though, it’s not unthinkable that political types would deceive people in an attempt to sway public opinion or elections. Take the Inflation Reduction Act, for example. Although it was named for and promoted as inflation reduction (hence the name, duh), it didn’t do anything of the sort. But it did fund a lot of green energy initiatives, raise prices, and made inflation, well, inflate.

And the thing is Leftists even admit there’s a problem with misinformed voters of color. Aside from being more than a little racist, it also exposes the flaw of the will of the people when it comes to incomplete or inaccurate information.

Which brings us to the media. One of the cornerstones of a functioning government is an informed electorate. Our media used to be focused on that, but have gone into business of being PR for Leftists because, well, the media are Leftists by and large. And their coverage of events and what they allow to be said without pushback on their opinion shows reflect that. So, put simply, the media are complicit in the problems the Left know exist, but ignore when it’s their cause that needs to be forwarded.

You know, like a redistricting plan put before voters without going through the proper process?

But you won’t hear that from the media, thus making the Left’s job of claiming victory and getting stupid people to believe it easier. It also helps in the area of creating outrage. Watching Leftist meltdowns over the Virginia Supreme Court ruling has been quite enjoyable, mainly because the people melting down have no fucking clue of what the ruling actually did. And when you consider the number of media types melting down for the same reason, it’s no wonder the public isn’t as informed as it should be.

I know I’ve shit on a lot of people with this Lexicon entry, but it’s done to establish a point about the will of the people not being the bottom line of everything put up to a vote. It’s like the old saying “the customer is always right.” (Yes, I know the actual quote is up for debate, but work with me here, people!) In theory, it makes a lot of sense, but in practice (especially in the Karenverse we find ourselves in these days) it’s not always the case. There are times when the customer misinterprets the law or store policy to try to get something they’re not owed and then expect you to live up to their misinterpretation.

“Target Tori” can speak to that better than I can.

This isn’t to say I’ve lost all faith in the will of the people. Most of it, yes, but not all of it. There are still pockets of intelligent, informed, and engaged people out there who are trying to keep the country afloat. Even if we don’t agree on the political shit, I respect anyone who can make the effort to be the kind of people the Founding Fathers wanted us to be.

The Electoral College

I’ve written about the Electoral College before in a previous incarnation of this blog. So again I am revisiting this important topic on the eve of our national election.

The United States is a Constitutional Federal Republic. Notice that the word “democracy” is not in our form of government. Our Founding Fathers were brilliant men and knew the dangers of a democracy. This is why they gave us a republic.

The Electoral College is the greatest example of our republic. It ensures that every state in the union has a say on who becomes our president. Without it, the large cities on the coasts would decide by a popular vote. And those of us in the “fly over” country would never have a voice. We lack the numbers to overrule their voices.

Our Founding Fathers were aware of this, even in the 18th century. Thus they created the Electoral College to level the playing field and so every state would have a fair voice.

In the Electoral College system each state gets a 1 vote for each Senator and Representative. Thus Iowa, my home state, currently has 6 votes in the Electoral College.

How these Electors are chosen is up to each state. And what rules they must follow are also up to each state.

Do I think that the Electoral College should be replaced by the popular vote? Absolutely not. For all the reasons already stated and why the Founding Fathers created it in the first place. Do I think there should be changes. Yes there should be some changes.

I do have a couple of reforms that would make the system better than it is today. And be a vote generator for tomorrow. And I think they would help preserve the Republic as well.

At the state level, all the states must follow the lead of Maine and Nebraska and do away with the rule of “winner takes all” method. Thus the number of votes becomes proportional to the win.

This is far more equitable and fair to the candidates. If you get 49% of the popular votes, you should get 49% of the Electoral votes as well. It would also cause the candidates to take every state seriously and improve their campaigns.

The 2nd reform would have to take place at the Federal level. It has been many decades since the last time the House of Representatives was increased due to the increase in population. And now each Representative has far too many constituents to adequately represent them.

Thus, raise the number of Representatives. Lower the maximum number of constituents for each Representative. This also increases the number of Electoral votes available which would in turn increase the number needed to win the Presidency.

Right now, the total of Electoral Votes is 538 and 270 are needed to be President. A simple majority. Hypothetically, if we increase each state my just 1 House member the available Electoral Votes would be 588 and the number needed to win would be 295.

Perhaps, even a 3rd reform would be in order. And it could be taken on it’s own or added to either one of the other 2 reforms. Instead of using a simple majority vote for the Electors, change it to a 2/3rd majority vote.

If this change was made on it’s own. The number of needed Electoral votes would change from 270 to 359 or 360. This would definitely make the candidates and the electorate pay more attention to the campaigns and the issues. And again every state in the union would be important.

Not with Her

I am not with her. Not because she is a woman. I’m all for a woman president if it’s the right candidate. I am not with her. Not because she is of color. I don’t care about that either. I have supported other presidential candidates of color in the past.

If these are the only reasons you are voting for her. Please, for the survival of our Republic, take a hard look past these superficial items and look at the issues facing our nation instead.

I am not with her because of where she stands on almost every issue. We are not in agreement on these things. And morally I can not support a candidate that goes against my ethics and morals to such a degree.

I am not with her because of her record. She has done nothing in the last 3 1/2 years as Vice President. And her record in previous posts is just as bad if not worse.

I am not with her because she is a Leftist. A hater of the Republic and the Constitution.

I am not with her because she didn’t earn a single vote for her nomination. She was crowned in a coronation as the nominee of the Democratic Party. Going against the very name and betraying Democracy. Zero votes. No delegates. Yet she is the Nominee. Appointed and selected by the Democratic Elite.

This should be concerning to every Democratic Party member. Their voice was silenced with Joe Biden and the appointment of Kamala Harris as the nominee.
